World Event #13

Today marks the beginning of a series of family reunions for families that were separated by the Korean War. The reunions will go up to October 1st on Mount Keumgang, a resort on the eastern side of the border in North Korea. Agreement to allow the reunions took place when North and South Korea held a 3 day meeting last month that was mediated by the International Committee of the Red Cross. About 200 families were allowed to participate in the reunions out of the 10,000 that applied.
